Sustainability Policy

We aim to run the practice in an as sustainable manner as we can bearing in mind that cleanliness & sterility & safety & compliance with legistlation is paramount. Staff are aware of our sustainability policy & empowered to suggest/make changes that help.

We are always looking for ways to reduce energy use whilst maintaining a safe working environment. All lighting has been changed to LED, we have plenty of windows for natural light, and in rooms where lights were being left on we have lighting operated by motion sensors. Wherever possible battery operated equipment uses rechargeable batteries.

The gas boiler is new & environmentally efficient.

We do not regularly use fipronil or imidoclopramid containing parasiticides; we do not do monthly subscription plans for parasite treatment so that we can offer a tailored approach to parasite treatment based on individual risk and avoid over prescribing.

We endevour to recycle everything we can; our wholesaler will take back returned packaging for recycling. All waste has to be disposed of by legal means involving registered contractors, eg clinical & pharmacological waste.Generating our own distilled water saves a lot of plastic containers (@100-150 5litre containers a year!)

The practice is located close to a bus route for clients & staff who can travel by bus. We have cycle parking in the car park & a secure place for staff to leave bicycles.

Much CPD nowadays is carried out by webinars/zoom etc which improves accessibility reduces transport time & its enviornmental costs.
